ATI 512MB PCI-E AMD HD4870 Radeon Graphic Video Card G 1 Specifications. Thus the reason I moved up to the ATI Radeon HD 4870. The card is priced right on Amazon. But, now I cannot run any of my old OS X 10.5.8 HDD's in the Mac Pro. Lots of good old software on those drives you can't get anymore for the upgraded OSes. Jan 17, 2011  I got an ATI Radeon HD 4870 512mb Gcard for Christmas, and have been trying to flash it to work with my 1st gen Mac Pro ever since. After following every guide I could find, and trying everything possible, I haven't gotten it to work. Even ask me what I haven't tried (try it). I also have a PC from my friend to test it out.

Mac OS X 10.5.7 has drivers. Among the many changes in Mac OS X 10.5.7, released Tuesday, is one sure to please Mac Pro owners — support for ATI’s Radeon HD 4870 card. ATI has paired 512 MB GDDR5 memory with the Radeon HD 4870, which are connected using a 256-bit memory interface. The GPU is operating at a frequency of 750 MHz, memory is running at 900 MHz.
